BIO
Jalese Gordon was born on 8th November 2001 and started sailing at the age of nine at the Antigua Yacht Club because sheloved the idea of doing any sport associated with the water. A year later, she began to train competitively with the optimist team where she gained the opportunity to compete both regionally and internationally. She later moved to 4.7 and laser radial where she not only competed but was able to train at the world sailing clinic and secure a position to compete at Youth Worlds. Recently, she gained the opportunity to get the Olympic scholarship and compete in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. Moving from competing in dinghy sailing to bigger boats has always been a dream of hers. She notes that she feels extremely lucky and honored to be a part of the team. "It's so nice to have teammates that you grew up with because everyone has this form of respect for each other and the knowledge and experience we all bring. I’m super excited and cannot wait to compete with so many amazing sailors from around the world!" Jalese's position on the boat is offside trimmer, which is new to her but notes that it has been an amazing challenge.
